The Curtainbox Theater Company | Brand Identity & Visual Strategy

I was commissioned by local actor and founder Kimberly Kurtenbach to develop a foundational brand identity for The Curtainbox Theater Company. The objective was to create a memorable and highly versatile visual mark that captures the artistic spirit of the new organization while maintaining functional excellence across various promotional channels.

 

Strategic Design Execution:

  • Literal & Symbolic Iconography: As featured in design, the logo utilizes a clever visual play on the company name, integrating a vintage theatrical trunk with a classic red stage curtain to establish immediate brand recognition.

  • Memorable Brand Presence: Engineered a bold, sans-serif typographic hierarchy that balances the intricate illustrative element, ensuring the “Curtainbox” name remains the focal point of the identity.

  • Multi-Format Versatility: The design was developed with high-performance scalability in mind, optimized for seamless reproduction across diverse media, including:

    • Digital and print advertisements for upcoming productions.

    • High-quality theater playbills and programs.

    • Promotional apparel and merchandise for cast and patrons.

    • Front-of-house environmental signage.

  • Artistic Integrity: The clean linework and classic color palette provide a sophisticated look that reflects the company’s commitment to professional-grade theatrical performances.
